The First Great Adventure

Izelth noses around

Izelth eyes the old fogey types, and chirrs. He ain't afraid of youuu.

Phailinugoth bounces over to R'al and looks him over curiously and then looks back at K'nan « He needs to smile more. » He looks back at R'al and bob's hos head form one side to the other and then sticks out a tongue and dashes off warbling happly.

R'al eyes the blue dragon, giving a slight snort.

Izelth pads his way over to Aeleojaith, looks behind him at the bouncing, raspberrying blue, chuffs a chortle, then looks back at the green. »Should I be afraid of you? I don't feel very afraid of you.. seems a pointless excersize to be afraid of someone like you really. What do you learn from fearing? Hah.«

[Dragon/Western] Phailinugoth warbles happily at all the much bigger dragons « IT's time to play!! »

[Dragon] Zreth lets his mind speak to the dragons of Pern, and the new hatchlings specifically. « Welcome out of your shells. It's a wonderful world out here. But, just you wait until you take to the skies. »

Aeleojaith nips at the little Izelth. »You should fear me because if you do not, you will obviously be in a lot of trouble. And you are under /my/ care and supervision for the next two Turns. I am the Boss.« She swings her brilliant green head around to the other Weyrlings. »Thats goes for all of you. Fear is healthy. Respect is better than fear. One or the other.«

[Dragon/Western] Zelinath eyes the newly-hatched, « Sleep is something that is good for you… so do it »

Tenirth has settled down by his mate, or rather the other way around. S'r's curled up near him instead. The young boy's got his hands all over the dragon's hide, eyes shining with unusual happyness as he looks across that the other weyrlings. "He says you all found your mates and he's happy for you too."

Phailinugoth at the sound of someone being afraid he tries turning back into the opposite direction, and fails miserably as he skids, slides and falls to the ground. But he's already scrambling back up and running back before he even really stops « Afraid? Who's afraid? You're afraid?» He says as he looks up at Aeleojaith « You're too purdy to be afraid »

[Dragon/Western] Phailinugoth snorts.. <>

[Dragon] Phailinugoth bounces one and all « HI!!! »

[Dragon] Maclurath purrs quietly, whispering to the newest dragons. « Welcome to Pern. Especially you, loud one. »

[Dragon] Aevisaanth grumbles a bit. « Too loud. »

[Dragon] Phailinugoth looks curious and warbles at Aevisannth « Don't be mad. Be Happy! »

S'in laughs softly as Aelaojaith turns her head towards Phailinugoth, her eyes sparkling somewhat. »I am not afraid young one, but that comes with age you know.« she pauses, still very amused at the little blue one in front of her. »Purdy? Me? Why, thank you my little one.« Yes, /her/ little ones.

[Dragon] Einheith sends motherly tendrils toward the young ones. « Hello young ones. »

K'nan glances up from where he's trying to get things settled and smerks a little at Phailinugoth who's just all bright eyed and bushy dragon tailed. « Oh good! Being afraid is no fun, being happy is much funner, will you play with me too? »

[Dragon] Aevisaanth eyerolls. « Grow some sense first, child. Calm down. »

[Dragon] Phailinugoth warbles brightly « Why? »

[Dragon] Aevisaanth projects « … »

[Dragon] Helianth seems to be measuring the potential of these new young ones, then at last, adds his own greeting. « Welcome. » Short. Concise. Simple. And full of depth and the experience of twenty-six odd Turns.

[Dragon] Zelinath sends out colors of annoyance « Sleep make me happy… it might make you happy, too. So try it. »

[Dragon] Phailinugoth just sends out waves of playful energy « But sleep is boring. You don't do anything. Wanna play? »

[Dragon] Helianth snorts with a hint of contempt. Play? Play indeed. That is for those who are undignified. « I think not, young one. »

[Dragon] Aevisaanth puts on a mock cheerful tone. « Oh yes, let's play. Here's a game: Whoever can stay quiet the longest will get a /wonderful/ prize! »

[Dragon] Phailinugoth sticks his tongue out and makes funny faces.

[Dragon/WEW] Izelth tests. Ignore.

Phailinugoth pounces Izelth and doesn't wanna ignore.. he wants to play

Izelth eyes his clutch sibling with one bright sparkling eye from his couch. <>

Phailinugoth quirks his head to one side «How about a race around the barracks?»

Izelth sniffs at this, stretches his neck, rolls his wings, and tries to get up. Bulge. Big belly doth not make a good job of newly aquired mobility.

Phailinugoth blinks and then peers closely at Izelth « Can't you get up? You really shouldn't have eaten so much, how are you supposed to play and stretch your wings? »

Izelth grumbles, and scrabbles his talons on the floor, to get a good solid position, then with a flourish, he unfurls his wings and holds his head up high. <> up down up down. <>

X'an, meanwhile, is utterly exhausted. So you thought CHORES were bad did you little lordling? ZzzzzzzzZZZzzzZZZzzzz. Flopped on his cot.

Phailinugoth burbles and warbles and skitters off away from Izelth « Then feet are not attached either!» he slips around someone elses couch and come sto a skidding halt in front of K'nan who's worrying at a lace on his sandals and slides into his rider, sending them both to the ground. K'nan blinks a little and eyes Phailinugoth. « Oops? » K'nan can't help but laugh and wrap his arms around the little blue. "Cute." « Beam »

Aeleojaith is just watching from her couch at the head of the barracks. Right where she can see everything. The wise old one relaxes, quite content to watch her little charges while S'in does paperwork in the office behind her.

Izelth refuses to be undignified right now, refuses. But it comes across anyway. <> he calls out, then deliberately turns around.. well… waddles around anyway, and starts nudging X'an's foot. Nudge. Nudge. <>

After making sure that K'nen was all right Phailinugoth gets up again and tugs on K'nens' clothes « Come, play! » K'nen yawns a bit himself "Can I go use the nessacary first? I'd hate to make a mess." he remarks. Phailinugoth looks confused at first and then the little dragon grins and wanders off as K'nen heads the other way, snatching up some clothes as he does and hoofs it to the do his business. Phailinugoth on the other hand has forgotten about the race and is sneaking up on Aeleojaith.

"Huzzzuff? Y'wha? HmmnUh?" sitting up, X'an rubs the oil from the first oiling of the chestnut brown all over his nose as he swipes the back of his hand over his eyes. "Izzy, I .. I was /asleep/ Izzy…" <> "Don't you know it's rude?" <> "I beg your pardon?" <> "Well I never!" <>

Phailinugoth eyes the green with fascination, after all she's so much bigger, course that tail of hers, jsut right for pouncing isn't it?

Aeleojaith is quite content to watch Phailinugoth, her tail is tucked beneath her as she spots the litte one coming. Heck, you didn't think they gave her this job because she was pounceable, did you? No, its because she's very good at watching kidlets.

You don't think a little tucked tail is gonna deter Phailinugoths' curiosity did you? Eyes divert to her paws instead, and he puts one paw on her couch and starts to climb it when K'nan comes back from doing is nightly devotion "Phailinugoth!" he exclaims. The little blue looks back « What? » he asks with complete and utter innocence. "What don't you come back over here? « Why? » K'nan blinks and then grins "Well I though you wanted to play?" « Oh! Yes! » Little blue scrambles away from Aelojaith without even a backwards glance.

X'an tries to get himself in gear, and manages at least to get relatively upright.

Izzy doesn't wait though, oh no. With determination in every one of his limbs, he beats his small wings, and sucks in his belly, warbling happily when he manages it, and bound-skids over toward Phailinugoth, in an attempt to bowl him sideways, or make him skid on the floor of the barracks. <> then something attracts his attention, and he chirrups curiously, trundling over to another weyrling's cot and peering at something underneath it. <>

Phailinugoth warbles at Izzy and the Booya. COurse the sound doesn't scare him, but him looking a different way while running is not a good idea "Phailinugoth!" K'nan exclaims as little blue ends up colliding with a partition. Little blue shakes his head and blinks his eyes as his rider comes over to see how he is. Phailinugoth looks up and gets a dragonic grin and taps K'nan « Tag! You're it! » And with that the little blue scurries off in another direction. "I'm it?" blink, blink.

Izelth tips his head to one side, curiosity turning his eyes playful blue, then he looks back at his prize, and edges his nose under the cot, snagging something in his lips (not teeth. Ain't got teeth yet!) <> edging further under the cot. «… he squeezed his way through the tight confines of the treasure's prison, to..» squalk. «.. er.. get stuck.»

K'nan watches Phailinugoth bound off and wanders over to X'ans' cot "Tag." he says a little wearily and eyes Izelth "I think he's got a problem. Phailinugoth as already spied Izelth and sneaks up behind him « And from behind comes the great beast, intent upon the prey before him.. » Phailinugoth eyes Izelth and gets ready to pounce,

Izelth 's tail swings left, then right, as he tries to get unstuck. The problem here is that slatted cots have .. slats. And largish brown dragonets have neckridges. <> he says in a bland monotone, a quiet crackling beginning in his mindvoice, like the forerunner to Krakatoa going sky high. <> something snaps, and he's free, but at the cost of that slat, and at the cost of his treasure which was -just- out of reach. Then there's incoming Phai'. <> "Am not. I'm on home. Can't 'It' me when I'm on home." X'an wearily replies back, eyeing the.. tussle ensuing. "Careful boys! Remember you have talons! No wing snarlings!"

« The great beast will not go down without a fight. Mighty and tragic the ending might be, but it will not be in vain! » Phailinugoth takes a dramatic plunge and swipes up some forgotten sock. K'nan just watches with amusement that soon turns to horror as Phailinugoth continues « THe great treasure will be mine forever! » "No! Don't eat that!" K'nan scrambles up even as Phailinugoth puts the sock in his mouth and takes a dramatic death-like plunge. K'nan dives into teh fray unmindful of talons and such to snatch the sock out of Phailinugoth's mouth.

Izelth stands stock still, over the valiant, deadly blue-beast that faught so bravely, one paw on his clutchsibling's flank, and eyes K'nan as he comes close. Chirring, he eyes the sock with the next breath, even as X'an is hurrying over. "I so don't want to consider what'd happen if you ate a sock." even if it's to Phai', it's Izzy that blinks triple lids at him. <>

Phailinugoth eyes the sock that has been snatched away « We were only playing » he says with a grin, not at all upset. « Can't we have our treasure back? » "Are you going to eat it?" « How else am I supposed to keep the might hunter from getting it? » Mmmph "SOme other way then by eating it. Eating socks is not healthy? « WHy? » "Because dragons aren't meant to eat socks. « Why? » Blink " Because dragons eat meat. " « Why? » Sigh. "Because if you ate socks, we wouldn't have anything to wear on our feet and they'd get sores and hurt and then we wouldn't be able to play. « Oh! Socks are a mighty and wonderful thing then! A treasure indeed! They give people the ability to play! Socks on everyone! »

Izelth Bugles a small bugle, as he's a small brown. <> "Oooh no you don't, no raiding everyone elses laundry baskets, Iz'" <> pause. <> "Le sigh. Clothing, of all forms, counts as Laundry. You have hides to keep you walm, we don't. Therefore laundry is important to us." <> vivid reds and bright oranges of a distant sunrise on a forgotten world. <>

K'nan ponders "And I thought puppies were bad. « Puppy? What's a puppy? » A small cute cuddly little furry animal that sometimes gets into mischief « Can I have a puppy? » "Umm, no?" « Why not? » "Umm you'll have to ask S'in if you can have a puppy, but I don't think they'll let us have pets. « Oh. Okay » He looks towards S'ins' office " I wouldn't do it now, wait till the morning « Okay, must go off now anyways. » And with that the brave young blue bounds off after Izelth heading for the doors « Into the wild unknown we go, what dangers and passions we'll find who knows.. »

Izelth lumbers over to the training field.

Phailinugoth lumbers over to the training field.

Izelth stalks out into the open air, lifting his noble head up to stare around the open sky and land. > Two can do poetry. And with a swish of his tail, Izzy makes good on that, lolloping toward the tropical bushes, where savages might be found, and ancient artifacts! - Yes, He's Indiana Jones.

Phailinugoth slinks forward, his tail atwitch « he mighty hunter is followed, what intrepid treasures might be found hiding. What danger lurks behind the next corner. It's coming for us, it will not let us pass so easily » A soft shiver goes through him, anticipation.

Izelth flares his wings, and plunges into the underbrush, making a splendid rucous of the expedition.

Phailinugoth lets out a rumble that almost sounds more like a squeak really as he dives in after « And the fearless duo plunge into the unknown. Does death or treasure await them! »

And there is much in the way of crashing, and floral scents flummoxing around in the atmosphere. Tumbling out with a frond in his mouth, the brownling aims for the midfield, gallumphing with all his minute reserves of energy. >

Phailinugoth is soon following a branch in his mouth and running like all the devils of hell are after him « They're going to eat me!! » He cries as he comes tearing out.

« Ah, but we're armed! Now we're clear of the ancient's ruins, we can turn and brandish our great, and important artifacts!* Izzy wields his branch as if it's a great.. sceptre or something. *Back! Back you heathens! » striking a pose, his wings flare, and he looks pretty darned dramatic.

Izelth hasn't a clue! Oh no, this is far too much of an adventure indeed. <> fearlessly, the brown traipses across the field, discovering a puddle in the shade of a tree. <>

Phailinugoth pauses but a moment and then slinks down into the puddle « Slowly he dips into the murky bog, home to creatures so awful that they cannot be mentioned » A look to the the fearless brown « Some great treasure must be buried in this dank bog, guarded by such fierce protectors. » His foot slips « He's got me!! »

Izelth roars! Such a .. well, you know the Lion King? simbaroar Mk I? 'Rowr!' Splatting his forepaw down on the mud, little droplets fly everywhere. <>

Phailinugoth bites down into the mud, fighting for his dear life « I shall shred the very life from you, pulverizing your bones to dust » He's mouth clamps down on a thick rope that somehow got left forgotten and buried « The fearsome 'snake struggles for it's very life, wrapping it's bone crushing coils around the valient hero, seeking to protect the treasure » Phailinugoth flips in the mud, the coil whipping around towards the brown as well « It shall not prevail » *sploosh*

Izelth Lunges for the other end of the rope, mouthing it and getting a good, soggy, muddy grip on it with his jaws, and tugging. <> unless of course, they get distracted by the potential of tug of war over a puddle of course. <> - because he's Indiana Jones o'course.

Phailinugoth gets yank around and slides through the mud « Oh no you don't you vile creature! » he exclaims and gives a forceful yank on the rope himself « You will not get away from me, I shall drag you through the Weyrs of old » And tugs even more.

Meanwhile, back in Kansas…

"Uh-oh." X'an, ever the mess of conflicting emotion and habit, stares at the doors out into the field. "K'nan, y'know how long we took on oiling and cleaning our little bondmates…."

Izelth skids on the slippery earth, digging his talons in and flapping his wings weakly to gain a bit of purchase. <> tug, tug, his tail slaps down on the mud as he leans back precariously.

K'nan runs his hand through the top of his hair and eyes the two. "Too long with regards to them playing in the mud, and you know they'll have to be cleaned again before we let them in, I do not want to clean floors up after them."

"Mopping. Mopping is bad. Mopping is really bad. You just know I'll end up doing something that lands me sprawled on my back." X'an agrees with a groan.

Phailinugoth gives a gind low grumble deep in his throat almost like a mock growl « She must have young nearby to be fighting so fiercly. Yet she must die and her evil kindred as well, the treasure should be ours! » His paws skitter in the mud as he's pulled and his own wings flap out as he seeks to gain purchase, the rope starting to slip through his mouth until he slips and loses his grip on the rope « SHe's getting away! »

K'nan nods a little "Very bad. Course we'll be up half the night getting them clean and re-oiling them." he says, looking weary. "I don't think they'd let us let them sleep outside."

Unsuprisingly the mudbath and wrestling match of two young dragons can get quite messy. One wonders how long it will take the two weyrlings to clean this mess.

The 'playing dead' brown cracks an eye open at the approach of his X'an, and lumbers to his feet. <>

Phailinugoth eyes his approaching rider with unsurpressed glee and comes bounding after him, leaving a trail of mud behind « It was great, we were brillant! You should have seen it! The struggle, the pain! » K'nan can't help but laugh "Really? ANd what did you find, aside from death and destruction?" At that question Phailinugoth turns on his heels, slips, gets up and runs back for the branch « A great treasure from the world beyond! »

Izelth is still all busy with <> and staring eye to eye with X'an. "You know, you're a total mess Izzy." Headshaking, the bitran is still grinning though, it's hard not to with emotional rappor. "Come away now, we've got to get you cleaned up again, because brave warriors that you are, you don't want to look all primative and messy."

Phailinugoth presents the treasure to K'nan who reverently takes it "Very nice, very nice indeed." he notes with a thoughtful look "It is a work of art indeed." he says "What say we get you cleaned up and that snake smell off you, so the rest don't come searching for you by smell alone. Phailinugoth ohs « Very good, we shall hide our tracks so none may follow »

Izelth enters a silent battle of wills. Playtime vs. Bathtime vs. a brown having a bit more energy than a blue. He wants to remain. Boss is saying no. Conflict ensues, and X'an ends up with a bead or two of sweat on his forehead. <>

Phailinugoth isn't without energy, he's just been diverted, infact he already has his face in a bucket and his blowing bubbles. K'nan chuckles and shakes his head as he starts working the mud off. Unfotunately, staying in one spot isn't an easy feat for Phailinugoth and he keeps moving around, or turning to watch K'nan and tug at his clothes.

"Dignity, Izzy. Dignity." X'an murmurs. Aaaah. /That/ gets Izelth to pay attention, and he draws his head up proudly, and waits with as much patience as he can muster. <>

K'nan chuckles a little "Come on, just a little bit longer." he murmurs as he snags a muddy tail "Just try and be still." « I am being still » Phailinugoth says even as his head twists around to look at Izzy « We can do it, it'll be fun and they'll be happy and everyone will be happy. Maybe Aeliojaith will play too? »

Izelth is a brown that will one day learn how to use his tail like a whip. You know it'll happen. It has to happen. It is destiny. <>

Phailinugoth warbles happily and actually pauses long enough for K'nan to get his neck ridges. « It shall be great fun! » he exclaims and starts to run off to the barracks to bug her. "Phailinugoth, wait!" « Why? I'm clean am I not? » "No.." « I'm not? » "No.. your paws are still a mess. « Oh? Can't it wait? » "No, I fear if you were to go in and get Alieojaith's couch muddy, there would be no adventure for you." « Why not? What is wrong with mud? » "Some people do not like the mess it made, and I fear our Weyrling Master would take exception « I'll bring him a sock! » Blink.

Izelzelth lumbers over to the weyrling barracks. from the training field.

Phailinugoth lumbers into the weyrling barracks, from the training field.
