Do Virgins Taste Better?

Lagoon Shore - Western Weyr
A sandy beach running along the edge of the lagoon, between the sparkling waters and the bowl. Sometimes riders and dragons are seen playing in the water nearby or a dolphin can be seen cavorting. At other times seacraft can be seen coming in under the arch to dock. The lagoon is large enough to fill a quarter of the length of the bowl. A path winds out along a ledge out to the docks to the southwest, the lagoon to the west and the bowl to the east.

Wiyaneth appears high above from *between*, and trumpets a greeting to Western's Watchdragon pair before she begins to slowly spiral down towards the lagoon. She touches down in the damp sands so she doesn't send up as many grains with the powerful backstrokes of her wings used to slow her decent. Elara unbuckles and slides off with a pat to her queen's shoulder.

K'nan is relaxing against Phaili, curled up on a forepaw reading a letter with a bit of a frown. Phaili rumbles a little as he peers down at the paper curious at it's contents. He then looks up at the incoming dragon and trumpets out a greeting.

Wiyaneth arches her heck prettily and returns the Blue's greeting with a warm and deep croon. Elara beams and waves, starting over, "K'nan! Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt," she apologizes after noting the rider reading.

K'nan glances up and folds up her letter and puts it away. "No, it's okay" she says softly and then smiles "It's good to see you again and under less umm stressful conditions." she notes with a grin. "How might you be?"

Elara smiles, lifting a hand to offer the Blue a scritch if he'll take it. Wiyaneth settles down on the beach, eyes attentive and curious. "We're quite well, thank you. And you both? And the baby? I always like to check up on patients. That and I just love kids." She blushes faintly.

Phailinugoth will take it, he rumbles very softly, his version of a purr as he closes his eyes, his tail moving back and forth in the sand. K'nan gives a little nod "I'm doing well, finally getting about as decent of a nights sleep as I ever get. Zandanin and Phaili are now on the same sleeping schedule. For awhile there, when one was asleep the other was awake." she notes "Dan is doing well, he's with X'an at the moment, to give them some time to spend together and Auberaans got me on vitamins just incase I don't eat well enough."

Elara smiles, gently scritching Phailinugoth's eyeridges while she listens. She nods, "Excellent. I'm very pleased to hear that." She giggles, "I remember when Wiyaneth hatched she and I were on opposite sleep schedules…I switched over to hers pretty quick." The Gold rumbles a snort.

K'nan laughs as she glances over at the Gold "Did she make a habit of never wanting to sleep because there was too much things to see and do, and consequently not sleep long once asleep and thus wake up at least twice in the middle of the night."

Freiheith wings in for a landing, trying not to stir up too much dirt and sand.

Elara laughs, glancing at her queen, "She still does that now!" she says with bright eyes. Wiyaneth snorts. She certainly does not! She has to get up and check on her weyr, make sure things are safe. Elara grins, "Did Phailinugoth do that?"

K'nan laughs brightly "Did nothing, he still does." Phaili rumbles softly and K'nan snorts. "He says it's great time for finding socks as well." she notes with a grin and just shakes her head. "LEast he listens better then he did. I swear I had to grab his head and point it towards me sometimes, just to get him to pause long enough to listen."

Elara tilts her head curiously, "Socks?" She chuckles, "Oh, Wiyaneth does listen. Sometimes too intently. If I'm just rambling thoughts through my head she'll sometimes act upon something I hadn't really decided on. If that makes sense." She glances over as the Brown lands and waves. Wiyaneth lifts her head, swinging it around to croon a rich greeting.

K'nan smiles and then grins as she recognizes the brown and the two shapes upon his back. "Yes, Socks. Happened back in weyrling hood and he equated socks with happiness and thus he'd give them to people. Though now he's got me sewing eyes and such on them and he loves getting giggles out of teh kids around the weyr."

T'ai smiles a bit and he offers a hand back to help Auberaan off Freiheith, "Down you go love." he says as he grins at Aub.

Auberaan chuckles and allows T'ai to help him down. "Thank you, love. Hello you two," he grins.

Elara grins and waves, "Hello, Auberaan, and you must be T'ai," she says warmly to the Brownrider she's heard so much about but can't remember meeting. She giggles at K'nan, "/I/ would be amused by socks with eyes on them." Wiyaneth stretches luxuriously in the sand and gives a mighty yawn before gazing out across the water speculatively.

T'ai chuckles and he nods a bit as he pats Freihieth on the shoulder before sliding off the beast's massive neck, "Yep, that would be me Ma'am." he says as he nods to the brown before releaseing the straps.

Auberaan approaches Elara for hug, "You met once…oh, a little over two turns ago at a gather here at Western. Just before we became weyrmates, actually. Good day Wiyaneth." The gold gets a smile.

K'nan smiles at Aub and T'ai "And a hello back at you." she remarks and then points a finger at Aub and mock glares at him "I've been good and still you sic'd X'an on me. Shame on you."

Elara smiles, offering T'ai a hand, "That's right, well it's very nice to meet you again, then." Wiyaneth wuffles lovingly over Auberaan before turning her attention again to the sea. She's got an inkling for seafood…

T'ai ahhs a bit and he nods as he shakes Elara's hand, "I was probably a bit distracted with Auberaan at the time." he ays with a grin as he wraps an arm around the healer and FRreiheith rumbles a greeting to the gold dragon.

[DTU/Project] Freiheith and Phailinugoth sense that Wiyaneth's mindvoice is warm and lucious like a spring field, « Are there good *fish* here? »

"Now, I told him to take it easy on you, K'nan. Is he giving you a hard time?" K'nan gets a hug form Auberaan too and he turns back to T'ai, "It was at the gather to celebrate Anysta becoming a Journeyman /and/ your turnday, love, though I admit it was brief meeting. So, what brings you to Western, Elara?"

Elara smiles, "Checking up on things. K'nan and Dan in particular. Not that I don't think you do a wonderful job, Auberaan," she assures her fellow healer. She smiles and nods, "Yes, that was it. Anysta's Journeyman and your Turnday. I believe I still owe you a present, T'ai," she says with a grin.

[DTU/Project] Freiheith and Wiyaneth sense that Phailinugoth burbles and warbles « Always good fish, great fun to chase »

K'nan shrugs a little at Aub "It was okay." she notes, not really willing to go into that conversation, though she doesn't stiffen with the hug either. She glances over at Elara "You're always welcome, just so long as I don't have to be dragged into the infirmary, I spent enough time there as it was."

[DTU/Project] Freiheith and Phailinugoth sense that Wiyaneth does not sound convinced, « I am quite *slow* in the water, » she informs.

[DTU/Project] Freiheith and Wiyaneth sense that Phailinugoth gives the sense of thousands of rainbows shimmering brightly in a sea of blue « Well chasing is fun, but you can just scoop? »

[DTU/Project] Phailinugoth and Wiyaneth sense that Freiheith rumbles a bit, « I like fish. »

[DTU/Project] Freiheith and Phailinugoth sense that Wiyaneth consiters this and then gives a mental shake, as if clearing away all her previous conceptions, « I will try. »

T'ai chuckles and he ohs a bit and blinks, "Oh no realy you don't have to, honestly." he says with a blush and he nuzzles Auberaan's neck.

Auberaan chuckles at the goldrider and leans into T'ai at the nuzzle, as he agrees with the Weyrsecond. "Yes, your expertise /and/ your company are always welcome, you know that…actually I've taken a short leave, though I've kept an eye on both mother and child, much to K'nan's dismay…" K'nan is blinked at, "You were in the infirmary recently?"

[DTU/Project] Freiheith and Wiyaneth sense that Phailinugoth warbles brightly, bursts of sunlight and sprays of ocean mist « Try them, try them. And you may. Try them and you may, I say »

Elara shakes her head, smiling at the Bluerider, "Oh no, I don't spend much time in the Infirmary myself." T'ai gets a broad grin, "Nonsense! I'll just find out what you want from Auberaan." She gives the Healer a wink. Wiyaneth rises to her feet and gives a soft rumble, and with a bit of surprise Elara hastens to her queen and removes the straps. Wiyaneth lumbers towards the water and slips in with a croon.

K'nan sighs a little and just vaguely gestures with her hand. "X'an dragged me there…" she murmurs softly and looking a little guilty as well. "I umm was kinda…" she shakes her head a bit "I wasn't quite right in the head." Phailinugoth watches the gold slip in and watches her.

T'ai blushes a bit more and he curls both arms around Auberaan now, "But I have everything I could possibly ever want right here." he says as he hugs Auberaan even more. "I've got a wing meeting later love, X'an's called me back to duty, if you think I'm fit for it."

"Oh…that," is Auberaan's response to K'nan's reminder of a touchy subject. "Well, thankfully that's all over now." Wiyaneth is glanced at as she goes into the water, perhaps because he's at a loss for words momentarily, but he breaks out of his private thoughts as T'ai hugs him. "I think you'll survive, but I want you to take it easy, or else," he pokes T'ai playfully. "What do you all say we go to the Tiki Lounge for some food and refreshments?" T'ai gets a squeeze, "You up to it. love?"

Elara smiles, glancing towards the Lounge, "I wouldn't mind that," she muses. A soft cheep has her reaching into a satchel swung across one shoulder, and she gently pulls out a very young blue firelizard, "They wouldn't happen to have some raw meat in there would they?" Borrago chirps hungrily. Feed!

T'ai chuckles a bit and he nods, "Food sounds like a great idea love, I could use a big plate or two." he says with a grin, look s like the brownrider's appetite is back.

"Awww…isn't he sweet?" Auberaan murmurs at the small firelizard in Elara's grasp as his own two blues croon from atop Freiheith's neckridges, "Yes, of course they have meat scraps." T'ai's hand is taken as he steps back from the man's embrace, "Shall we, then?" K'nan is glanced at to see if she'll be joining.

Elara smiles and waits for the other to lead the way. She doesn't live her, after all. In the water, Wiyaneth patiently waits for fish to jump into her maw.

K'nan shrugs a little and slips off of Phaili. Quiet for the moment and instead of a verbal agreement she just follows, though she does peer curiously at the little blue.

Tiki Lounge Patio
As one walks onto the wood panelled flooring, they are greeted with the scent of burning oil, the likely source the various torches burning along the perimeter of the flooring. The flooring is littered with tables shaded with umbrellas, matching chairs tucked beneath when not in use. People of all sorts gather in clusters to talk or people watch. One can easily see into the tavern, its large windows usually open to the outside. Music flows in from inside, carried by the sea breeze, encouraging some people to dance, or even sing along.

Elara moves further into the patio, looking for a place they can all sit.

Nathan yelps a little as he's dragged into view by his ear, the weyrleader having apparently done the old 'grab and pull' trick to get the assistant steward to accompany him. Any arguments he might have made about work left undone are probably long past, and now, Nathan is just trying to keep up with the longer-legged young man, and saying "Ow.. Ow… Leggo… Ow…"

K'nan listens to her feet on the wood flooring and as she walks over and then flumps down into a seat only to look up in surprise at the ow's and blinks, her mouth dropping open. Can't you here the jaw hit the floor?

T'ai walks along with Auberaan, grinning a bit as he holds onto his mate's hand as he heads over to get something to eat.

X'an says in a very calm voice as he finally releases Nate's ear. (He actually had it held with some hair too.. lack of tearing) "If you're going to tell -me- I need to relax more, and actually -have- some kind of social life, you're going to swallow your own medicine too, Nathan Steward. >DO< I make myself clear?" Slung around X'an's chest and shoulder is an oversized sling, holding Zandarin, who appears right now, to be asleep. Several plush soft toys and a brightly coloured blanket peek out of the home-made papoose, and he checks the little baby before looking up and belatedly cracking a smile for the denizens of the patio. "Hi." - Ahem.

Auberaan follows the others in with T'ai, "Get me a plate too, will you love?" And sits next to K'nan as he continues his conversation with Elara, "I've been meaning to ask you, any word on the…mysterious 'gift giver'?" A wink goes to the Weyrwoman as Nathan's yelps become audible. *BlinkStare* "Uh…Hello…"

Elara looks a little surprised as she gazes up at Auberaan, and then flushes, "Oh! I forgot to tell you! Oh my goodness I'm so sorry I just haven't been able to send you a note or get here, yes! Yes I found out who it was, and now we're Weyrmates." She beams, quite forgetting to mention her mate's name as she accepts an offered bowl of meat and begins to feed Borrago. She looks up as X'an drags Nathan in, and looks rather surprised.

Nathan straightens out and adjusts his clothes. "I get out a great deal, thank you, and I have a /fine/ social life." If one counts talking to the headwoman about meals and supplies a social life… "I only needed another ten minutes."

K'nan just continues to stare at the two and then she glances down at Zandanin and despite herself she feels a sense of releaf that shows on her face. At Elara's words she shifts a little "Congratulations, who is he?" she asks curiously and then looks back at Nathan "Ten more minutes for what?"

T'ai looks at X'an and he can't help it, he starts to chuckles as he gets a plate of food for both himself and Auberaan, he fills them almost to overflowing before he heads back to the healer and company.

X'an will -not- look incredibly embarassed. Nope.. he'll just fail to catch the little fluffy-felt duck toy as it tumbles out of Zandarin's sling, dislodged by baby-dream twitches. Staaaaaaaaaare. Then as if he didn't just miss a beat and hear the wind whistling through X'an-vile, he skirts the invisible tumbleweed and heads to the bar. "…..Fruitjuice. Yes, a virgin." a glare at the barman. "Don't give me that look.. /virgin/. No alcohol."

K'nan can't help it. She just cracks up laughing, she needed a good laugh and leave it to X'an to provide it. "Baby in tow and already trying get snag a few virgins." she remarks between giggles, practically doubling over in laughter.

Nathan moves to take a seat near X'an, murmuring to the barkeep, plenty loud enough to be heard, "Don't be confused by the baby he's carrying. He's asking for a virgin, not telling you he is one… And while such a question might be impolitic in some circles… I would /hope/ that this isn't one of them. I don't think you're his type."

"You…" Auberaan doesn't seem quite decided as to which conversation to follow. He opts for gossip from Fort at the moment, "You've a weyrmate?!" K'nan's asked all his questions, so there's only one thing left to do…a perfectly executed pounce-hug goes to Elara, "I'm so happy for you!" K'nan's question is echoed. "Yes, who is he? … Thank you, love," The plate is taken from T'ai and a chair pulled back for him as he cackles at Nathan and K'nan's remarks.

Elara blushes. She really isn't sure /why/ this man choose to be her Weyrmate, why this loving, caring, handsome and oh-so-romantic man wanted /her/ out of all people, but she is very, very glad he did. She smiles, "A'rtomus," she murmurs with gentle adoration in her tone. She returns Auberaan's hug with a bright laugh, and then quiets, bending to the task of feeding Borrago.

T'ai shakes his head a little as he listens to X'an and Nathan, not exactly sure of which is more amusing. "So what are you going to do when the wing meeting starts love?"

X'an juggles a tray full of caramalized nuts, juice, pitchers, Fuzzy duck, and a corned Wherry Sandwich, baby, and his wits, back to where Nate's chosen a seat. Coincidentally, it was close to himself, and close to the others, because that's just the convenience of the Powers that Be (Namely us) - "Did I here her say /A'rtomus/? Dart? Trader guy who stood with us here at Western, and then got himself Bronze Nemmenth in frozen Fort?! /That/ Dart?" Blink. Grin. "I need food. Don't bother replying to me with anything I need to answer back with, until I've inhaled this." And he finds the obstacle of juggling tray to table with baby in arms, a little awkward. "Nate? A little help?"

Nathan can't resist the opportunity. He snags half of X'an's sandwich and takes a bite, then puts it back. "It's helpful… someone needs to eat it, and your hands are full…."

K'nan eyes X'an "And what if I wanted to inquire on how Zandanin's doing?" she asks with a bit of a snort, fit of giggles past and slumps in her chair again.

"I shall pine away as I await your return anxiously," Auberaan gives T'ai wink and a silly smile, eyes going to little Zandanin… "Wha…A'rtomus? A'rtomus, 'Dart', A'rtomus? that A'rtomus?" Biiig grin at Elara.

Elara looks surprised at both X'an and Auberaan's reactions, "Yes?" she says in a questioning manner, "That A'rtomus. What?"

Nathan takes the baby before X'an's glare sets that stuff in his hair aflame. "There… now you can eat, and I can mind His Majesty."

K'nan just smiles at Elara "I'm glad to see he's found such a wonderful person." she notes and then nods to X'an "Welcome." she murmurs laconically and then gets up and wonders over to the bar to order herself some food.

"That's wonderful! Good for you, he's a great guy. We became friends while he was here." His heaping plate of food served by T'ai (using immense-T'ai-portion standards) is ogled, "Love, you certainly /have/ gotten your appetite back haven't you?" Auberaan digs in nonetheless.

Elara's flush settles a little bit, though it's still lightly brushed onto her cheeks, "Thank you," she says to X'an, K'nan and Auberaan. Borrago chirps softly and drifts into sleep in Elara's arms. The Weyrwoman rises, "I'm afraid I've got to get back to Fort. Not afraid, really, it's a wonderful weyr and I love it dearly but I wish I could spend some more time here." She chuckles, "Have a wonderful day, clear skies."

"And fair winds to you, Elara. Not so much /snow/ hopefully." X'an winks.

Auberaan gives Elara a wave as he swallows… "You're not getting away that easily…I'm planning a visit to catch up and get /all/ the details," he winks.

Nathan would wave since everyone else is, but he's busy claiming the baby. And he doesn't know her.

T'ai shrugs and he grins a bit, "Well, you did say you wound't be happy til I got my appetite back."

X'an settles, after the swapping of Baby from one man to the other, with a thump. "You know, it would have been easier if you'd just taken the tray and put it down, then I could have manoevered. Oh whoopsie, that'd've been sensible!" he smirks a little and watches Danny with one eye (kind of) as he wolfs his sandwich.

Elara chuckles at X'an, "Snow is wonderful." She smiles at Auberaan, "Looking forward to it, Auberaan." She slips out.

Nathan grins. "I just wanted a bite, and it was sensible to take it while your hands were full, wasn't it?" He's got a firm grip on the baby, and he's even holding him properly. Nathan may have lots of older sisters, but it's clear, also, that he must have several younger siblings that he helped tend, as well.

Auberaan gets a kiss on the cheek…just because, "So what's with the virgins, Oh great and glorious leader?" Maybe it /looked/ like Auberaan wasn't paying attention to X'an, but he was.

K'nan listens with a quiet ear though she turns and bids Elara a fond farewell. She carries a tray of food over, a small sliced meat sandwich and bit of a salad and heads back over to her seat and well sit's. She continues to listen as she picks over her food, nibbling a little here and there. Quite the different fare then her normal piling of stuff.

A tall glass filled with redish liquid in his hands, R'al comes out of the tavern, shaking his head slightly. The greenrider has his riding jacket tired around his waist. He stops his walking to take a long sip from the glass, giving a small smile to nothing as it comes down. A seat is sat in. Where? Wherever.

"Enough with the great and the glorious." X'an murmurs, kind of stammered, due to chewing. "And I seem to have a knack with virgins. So I thought I'd give them a try drink-wise too." GASP! "… Besides, they taste close enough I can fool myself .. " does he -not- sound unconvincing? "If you want a sandwich Nathan, you have every right to -get- yourself one… not all of them are monstrous doorstops like this one."

K'nan stares at X'an and viciously stabs at the salad spearing up several mouthfuls. "Been getting a lot of virgins have you? I guess Izelth comes in handy for some things doesn't he?" she remarks and just shakes her head andglances around. Spotting R'al she smiles and waves him over. "Coming to join the fun?"

Nathan rocks the baby lazily, quite content to just sit with him and watch, and listen, and otherwise become as much a non-entity as someone can while holding a baby that may go off at any moment.

No comment on the virgin remark, although many go through Auberaan's mind, "Your 'friend' from Fort Weyr is very nice, X'an." That innocent comment is followed by innocent chewing and swallowing. R'al is smiled at. "Will we be seeing more of him?"

"Virgins are good." R'al decieds to put in his two cents, having heard at least part of the conversation. K'nan's wave is spotted and, as a greenrider, R'al doesn't turn down many offers… to come and sit, that is. Plop. He's sitting in a closer seat now. "More of who?" he heard some of the conversation.

X'an glances over his frenzied eating, finishing off half his sandwich, dabs his mouth, washes it down, and neatly arranges the second half. It's very nearly anal… and yes, the food was /neatly/ arranged just /so/ with the right amount of mustard, and toothpick things stuck through to hold it all in place. R'al is nodded at, and he begins carefully picking up the second half. "I certainly hope he's going to be coming back.. he has yet to meet the entire weyr, which simply -has- to happen, although he did get to meet Danny .. yesterday.. " chuckle. "S'vitaur's his name, and he's my star. And it wasn't intentional with the Virgins. My first one I got by accident.. I thought i was having a bloody mary." K'boom-tish!

Nathan just looks blankly at X'an's joke, not getting it at all.

K'nan eyes the lagoon again and ponders snagging her food and going where the conversation isn't quite so crass. Still she didn't invite R'al over just to up and leave, friends don't do that to friends. X'an however is given a glare "Honestly." she notes and then glares at Nathan "Can't you control him better thnen that?"

Dyanara walks up quietly to the lounge patio. Her and T'burk's infant daughter in her arms cooing and reaching for her hair. Apparently the little one is more interested in her mother's hair at the moment than the fact there is a crowd of adults around. "Oh Toraya, don't chew on mommy's hair please." She smiles with a soft laugh."

Nathan gives K'nan a slightly amused look, still bouncing the baby gently. "I can control him exactly as well as you can control the weather, K'nan. I'd like to see you do better." He sniffs. "Besides, why should I control him? I share quarters with him out of necessity in my duties, not because we're weyrmates."

Auberaan gets it but again, and still, though with much restraint, behaves. T'ai is winked at and another kiss goes on the cheek though it's actually a disguised whisper if it even fools anyone.

R'al's slightly red drink is sipped from and set back down. He blinks once at X'an before snickering. "Virgin… bloody mary… heh." The snickering stops after a bit. "S'vitaur, huh? At Fort? How can he stand that weather?" he shakes his head. "I can't imagine staying with how cold it must get."

X'an eyes K'nan, flicking his gaze around the group, he shakes his head faintly. Not controlled, nor contained is he.. save by habitual upbringing. Watch: This is how to utterly eat a sandwich like it happened to be Cordon Bleu. He keeps himself quiet, and in the background, looking after babe, appetite, and inward thoughts.

Dyanara glances over as she hears R'al's comment and laughs. "You get used to it, I was originally from Fort Hold, impressed Gwydionth at Fort Weyr and didn't get here to Western till I was 30 turns. You get used to it living there. You just learn to cherish ways to keep warm." She winks. "And that comes in many forms."

"Hello Dy!" Auberaan stops to get up and give his fellow healer and pseudo foster mother a hug, "A belated 'welcome…back' to Western. Sorry I haven't had a chance to catch up with you, T'ai's been keeping me busy."

T'ai blinks a bit and he looks at Auberaan, "Oh really? I didn't know he was into men."

Dyanara looks over as she gets a hug from Auberaan and smiles. "Well I've been here a lot more than at the Halls but it seems X'an figured since I spend so much time back here and all after being independant for a while, may as well give me a knot back." She laughs. "It's alright, Toraya has been keeping me busy and I finished up my Journeyman project just before the plague hit."

R'al looks over the Dyanara as the fellow greenrider speaks, his eyebrows raising slightly. Taking a quick sip of his drink he glances at the small girl in Dyanara's arms. "Oh! I see…"
